Rewards Program
Participation in the Rewards Program (“Program”) is restricted to U.S. residents who are 18 or more years old (“Cardmember”, “you”, and “your”) in whose name U.S. Bank National Association (“U.S. Bank”, “we”, “us” and “our”) maintains a Credit Card Account (an “Account”). Subject to the Program rules, you may redeem Rebates earned in the Program for a reward in the form of a statement credit to your Account, a deposit into a U.S. Bank Savings, Checking or Money Market account or for a rewards card. Program administrative services are provided by third party vendors.
Program Participation
To participate in the Program, your Account must be open and in good standing under the terms of your Cardmember Agreement. We may alter, change, or terminate the Program at any time without advance notice. We may also disqualify Cardmembers who have violated any of these terms and conditions or the terms of their Cardmember Agreement with us. Determination and payment of tax liability is the sole responsibility of the Cardmember. The Program is void where prohibited by federal, state, or local law.
Rewards Summary
1. Cash back rewards are earned under the U.S. Bank SmartlyTM Visa Signature® Card program. These rewards are earned as “Points”, and U.S. Bank will credit your U.S. Bank SmartlyTM Visa Signature® Card with 2 Points for every $1 spent in eligible Net Purchases (Purchases minus credits and returns). You may earn additional Points for a Smartly Earning Bonus if you:
- Have or open a U.S. Bank Smartly® Savings account with a minimum opening deposit of $25; and
- Have a “Qualifying Balance” with U.S. Bank in open consumer Bank Smartly® Checking, and/or Safe Debit account(s). Deposits in other U.S. Bank accounts do not qualify towards the Qualifying Balance requirement. Based on your Qualifying Balance, you will earn Points according to the following Smartly Earning Bonus tiers, except for the exceptions described below:
- Between $10,000 - $49,999.99, to earn a total of 2.5 Points per $1 of eligible Net Purchases (a base of 2 Points plus the Smartly Earning Bonus of 0.5 Points),
- Between $50,000 - $99,999.99, to earn a total of 3 Points per $1 of eligible Net Purchases (a base of 2 Points plus the Smartly Earning Bonus of 1 Point), or
- $100,000 or more to earn a total of 4 Points per $1 of eligible Net Purchases (a base of 2 Points plus the Smartly Earning Bonus of 2 Points).
Exceptions:
- Smartly Earning Bonus applies to a maximum of $10,000 in eligible Net Purchases each Card billing cycle. Eligible Net Purchases over $10,000 during each Card billing cycle will earn the base earn of 2 Points per $1 spent in Net Purchases.
- Not all Purchases are eligible to earn the Smartly Earning Bonus: Purchases classified as (1) education/school, gift cards (including discount gift card sites), insurance, or tax; (2) “business-to-business transactions” (transactions with merchants who are in the business of supplying goods and services to other businesses, such as advertising services, plumbing/heating suppliers, construction material suppliers (excluding home improvement stores), and computer programming services), even if not made for a business purpose; and (3) transactions using third-party bill payment services will earn the base of 2 points per $1 spent in Net Purchases and may not earn additional Points for the Smartly Earning Bonus. These Purchases are not calculated as part of the $10,000 cap. Each merchant’s business is identified by a category code established by Visa. A Purchase will not earn additional Points if the category code applied to a merchant is in a category that is not eligible for additional Points earning. We do not determine the category codes applied to merchants’ businesses and reserve the right to determine which Purchases qualify for additional Points.
The Qualifying Balance is determined as follows:
a. At the end of each day an average Qualifying Balance is calculated. The balance is based on a 30-day average balance of all qualifying accounts and is calculated by adding together the end of day ledger balance(s) for every day in the last 30 days and dividing the total by
i. 30 calendar days, or
ii. the number of days since opening an initial qualified account (either a consumer Bank Smartly® Checking, or Safe Debit account).
b. The Smartly Earning Bonus tier that is applied to your U.S. Bank Smartly credit card account is determined based upon the Qualifying Balance (as described above).
If your daily Qualifying Balance qualifies you for a tier upgrade or downgrade, you will be moved to the higher or lower tier (within 5 business days). This means that the bonus tier that will be applied to your account may vary during a Card billing cycle. The Smartly Earning Bonus is applied as of the Purchase transaction date (which may not be the date the transaction posts to the account).
For joint Card accounts: The applicable Smartly Earning Bonus tier will be determined by reviewing the Qualifying Balance in the qualifying account(s) of each Cardmember (if there is more than one) and using the total Qualifying Balance of the individual whose account(s) have the highest total. (This means that all Cardmembers may be aware of the balance range of the Cardmember with the highest qualifying balance.) Balances of the Authorized User(s) will not qualify for determining the Smartly Earning Bonus tier.
Points will expire if there is no reward, Purchase, or balance activity on your Card account for 12 consecutive statement cycles. If you make a Purchase return or otherwise receive credit on a Purchase transaction, Points will be deducted from your Points balance based on the Smartly Earning Bonus tier that applies to your card account when you make the return or receive the credit.
2. This card earns cash back rewards in the form of Points. To redeem as Cash Back in the values noted in this advertisement, Points can be redeemed as a deposit into an eligible U.S. Bank deposit account. Other redemptions, such as for statement credits and gift cards, may be at a reduced redemption rate.

Redeeming Rewards
The complete range of redemption options is available when Cardmembers call 888-229-8864 or visit the Rewards Center at usbank.com U.S. Bank National Association and/or third party vendors may change or terminate participating merchants, withdraw, limit, modify, or cancel any rewards, add an unlimited number of blackout dates, or increase the number of points required for a reward at any time without advance notice, even though such changes may affect the accrual or value of rewards. Reward redemption is subject to availability based upon Cardmember’s Account mailing address.
You may only redeem rewards if the outstanding balance of your Account is below its credit limit and if your Account is open and in good standing under the terms of your Cardmember Agreement. All reward redemptions are final. Rewards cannot be used as payment for obligations owed to U.S. Bank National Association or its affiliates. There are no refunds, exchanges, replacements or conversions for currency, credit, or rewards for unused portions or rewards, unless otherwise noted.
You may not redeem points, and you will immediately lose all of your points, if your Account is closed to future transactions (including, but not limited to, due to Program misuse, failure to pay, bankruptcy, or death). Points will expire if there is no reward, purchase, or balance activity on your account for 12 consecutive statement cycles. We reserve the right to verify and adjust points at any time before or after posting any redemption. Subject to applicable law, once you or we close an Account for any reason, all accumulated rebates are forfeited.

Visa Branded Prepaid Rewards Cards
Rewards for Visa-branded rewards cards (“Rewards Cards”) are redeemed when a Rewards Card is requested by Cardmembers. At the time of the Rewards Card redemption, your rewards balance will be reduced by the number of rewards used to obtain the reward(s). U.S. Bank National Association will use its best reasonable efforts to issue a Rewards Card within 7-10 business days of your request. Rewards Cards lost in mail will be replaced at no cost to the Cardmember if correct address information is provided at the time of redemption. Once received, Rewards Cards can be replaced if lost or stolen if the Rewards Card number is available.
Rewards Cards are mailed only to the Cardmember’s billing address. Rewards Cards will be personalized with the Cardmember’s name and cannot be exchanged or refunded. Rewards Cards can be used at any merchant that accepts Visa debit cards.
Rewards as a Statement Credit or Account Deposit
You can choose to redeem points for cash rewards in the form of a deposit as a statement credit or to your U.S. Bank Savings, Checking or Money Market account. Reward redemptions are deducted from the rewards balance when the reward redemption is requested by a Cardmember.
Statement credits are issued via a credit to your Account by accessing the Rewards Center at usbank.com. A credit will be applied to your Account within 6-8 weeks. Rewards redeemed for a statement credit will reduce the account balance but will not count toward your minimum payment due.
Account deposit redemptions may be issued via an electronic ACH deposit only to your U.S. Bank Savings, Checking or Money Market accounts. Account deposit redemptions may not be deposited to an international account. Redemptions to a U.S. Bank checking or savings account will be applied within 7 business days of your redemption request.
You must enter an accurate routing number for the financial institution associated with your Account and an accurate account number for your cash reward redemption to be processed correctly. Routing numbers entered for a cash reward redemption are checked against the routing number directory maintained by the Federal Reserve. If you have entered your routing number correctly and it is not accepted by the Rewards Center, please contact your financial institution to verify the number. If your routing number still is not accepted, please call the Rewards Center at 888-229-8864. U.S. Bank National Association is not responsible for incorrectly entered banking information.
Merchandise Rewards
You may redeem points earned in the Program for merchandise available through participating merchants under the then-current Program Rewards offering located at the Rewards Center at usbank.com. Rebates for merchandise are redeemed and deducted from the rewards balance when merchandise is requested by a Cardmember. U.S. Bank and our third-party vendor(s) shall not be liable for any bodily and/or property damage that may result from the use of any merchandise acquired through the Program.
Your redemption for merchandise constitutes your agreement to the following terms and conditions of our third-party vendor(s) (such terms and conditions are in addition to any terms and conditions of participating merchants) – please review:
Merchandise merchants are in no way affiliated with U.S. Bank, nor are merchandise merchants considered sponsors or co-sponsors of this Program. Use of merchandise merchant names and/or logos are by permission of each respective merchandise merchant and all trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Returns are only accepted for merchandise that is damaged, defective, or mis-shipped and reported within 30 days of the receive date – unless otherwise noted. Items supplied by Best Buy are subject to all of Best Buy’s conditions of use and policies, which can be found on www.bestbuy.com. Manufacturer warranties, if any and if applicable, cover merchandise offered in the Program. Redemption for merchandise is not available where prohibited by law. Merchandise redeemed may be shipped within the 48 contiguous United States only, unless noted otherwise. Only standard shipping is available; no express delivery. Ship-to address must be a street address; APO/FPO/PO Box addresses are not accepted.
Gift Cards
You may redeem rewards earned in the Program for gift cards available under the then-current Program Rewards offering located at the Rewards Center. Rewards for gift cards are redeemed and deducted from the rewards balance when gift cards are requested by a Cardmember. You may not use cash or anything other than rewards earned with your Account to acquire gift cards through the Program. Some gift cards are also available as eGift cards and will be delivered electronically via email. A maximum of three (3) eGift cards can be redeemed per day. Valid email address is required for eGift card redemption(s). U.S. Bank and our third-party vendor(s) shall not be liable for any bodily and/or property damage that may result from your use of gift cards acquired through the Program.
Your redemption for gift cards constitutes your agreement to the following terms and conditions of our third-party vendor(s) (such terms and conditions are in addition to any terms and conditions appearing on or with the gift cards) – please review:
Gift card merchants are in no way affiliated with U.S. Bank, nor are gift card merchants considered sponsors or co-sponsors of this Program. Use of gift card merchant names and/or logos are by permission of each respective gift card merchants and all trademarks are the property of their respective owners. Additional terms and conditions of gift card merchants apply to gift cards, and such terms and conditions are subject to change at gift card merchant's sole discretion, if permitted by law. Please see information provided with the gift card or the merchant’s gift card/certificate or website and the physical gift card for such additional terms and conditions. Gift cards can only be shipped within the 50 United States and U.S. territories. Gift cards will not be personalized and are transferable and may be redeemed by any person. Gift cards must be presented to participating gift card merchant for use. A gift card may only be used once. Mechanical reproductions, copies or facsimiles of gift cards will not be accepted. Gift cards are not exchangeable, refundable or redeemable for cash and cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. There are no refunds, exchanges, replacements or conversions for currency, credit, other cash rewards or rewards for no-shows or unused portions of gift cards. Lost, stolen, destroyed or expired gift cards will not be reissued or replaced. Reasonable efforts will be made to ensure that the gift card is delivered in a timely manner. U.S. Bank, third party vendor(s) and gift card merchants are not responsible for gift cards or correspondence lost or delayed due to U.S. Mail delivery.
Real-Time Rewards
With Real-Time Rewards, you may instantly redeem rewards for your credit card Purchases via text messaging. The Rewards redemption comes in the form of a credit to your monthly billing statement. Rewards will be deducted from your balance and a credit for the Purchase amount will be applied to your Account billing statement when you request redemption. For transactions which include a gratuity, fees, or estimated taxes, the statement credit may not equal your final Purchase amount. Auto bill pay transactions will be part of Real-Time Rewards text messages if the Purchase falls within your preference selections. Real-Time Rewards text messages are available only for transactions with U.S. merchants. You may sign up for Real-Time Rewards using your 10-digit U.S. mobile number. Only one mobile number may be used per credit card account. If any changes are made to your Account that will affect the card number, account ownership or your rewards program, you will need to re-enroll in Real-Time Rewards. Message and data rates may apply. The short code REDEEM (733336) is used by Real-Time Rewards to send redemption requests. Message frequency is based upon the preferences you select and the Purchases you make on your Account. Text ‘HELP’ to REDEEM (733336) for Help. Text ‘STOP’ to REDEEM (733336) to cancel your participation in Real-Time Rewards. All cancellations completed via text message will remove that mobile number from all accounts registered for Real-Time Rewards. You will not receive Real-Time Rewards text messages until you confirm your enrollment and preferences. You will receive a Real-Time Rewards request text message if your credit card Purchase falls within the criteria you have set up in your Real-Time Rewards preferences. You must have enough rewards to cover the entire purchase in order to receive a text message to redeem. Merchants who accept Visa cards are assigned a merchant code based on the kinds of products and services they sell. U.S. Bank does not control how Purchases are processed by merchants or the merchant codes they use; therefore, U.S. Bank cannot guarantee that a specific transaction will qualify. Your Account must remain in good standing in order to redeem. You may redeem by replying ‘REDEEM’ within 24 hours of when the message was sent. You may only redeem the most recent Real-Time Rewards text message. Upon confirmation of a redemption request, rewards will be deducted from your balance immediately, and a credit to your statement will be processed within three business days and will appear on your next billing statement. The Account statement credit for a Real-Time Rewards redemption will reduce the Account balance but will not count toward the minimum payment due. All redemptions are final. If you return the item or service that you redeemed rewards for to the merchant, the rewards will not be reinstated, but you may receive a credit to your credit card account (in accordance with the merchant’s return policy).
Travel Rewards
You may redeem Points earned in the Program to purchase travel rewards. All travel reservations must be booked through the Rewards Center. Points are considered fully redeemed when a confirmation number is issued and Points are deducted from your balance. Travel rewards can be issued in any individual’s name, but Points used for the purchase must be redeemed by a Cardmember on the Account. U.S. Bank and our third party vendor(s) shall not be liable for any bodily and/or property damage that may result from your use of travel rewards, or the performance by the travel providers (e.g., airlines, hotels, etc.). You may obtain travel redemptions with a combination of Points and Purchase.
Your redemption for travel rewards constitutes your agreement to the terms and conditions of our third-party vendor(s). If you book travel through the Rewards Center online, please refer to additional terms and conditions provided in the online redemption process. If you book travel by phone, a $39 Travel Advisor Consultation fee will be charged per airline passenger.
Earn 4 more points on hotels and car rentals booked directly on the Travel Center website. In addition to your base earn for purchases using your rewards credit card, you will earn an additional four percent (4%) in cash back rewards for every $1 in eligible Net Purchases spent on prepaid car and hotel reservations made on the Travel Center website using your rewards credit card. Cash back rewards cannot be redeemed toward travel reservations in the Travel Center.
The four (4) additional Points will be deposited into your reward account after payment has been processed. Please allow 1-2 statement billing cycles for the four (4) additional Points to appear on your credit card statement. Purchased hotel and car transactions will appear on your credit card statement RTI*TravelCenter*.
The four (4) additional Points will appear on your Points earning statement and in your Points history in the Rewards Center as “4 EXTRA POINTS: PURCHASE TRAVEL.”
If cancellation is permitted and you cancel a hotel or car rental reservation for which you have earned four additional Points, the four additional Points will be reversed.
If Points and cash are used for payment when there is more than one type of travel reservation in the cart, Points will be split equally across the components of the reservation. The cash portion of the payment will be applied to any remaining balance(s). The 4 additional Points will be calculated on the cash portion of the eligible hotel and car components.
Limitation of Liability
In addition to other disclaimers set forth in these Program Rules, third party vendors and U.S. Bank National Association make no guarantees, warranties or representations of any kind, expressed or implied, with respect to the goods or services offered by any participating merchant; and shall not be liable for any loss, expense, accident, injury or inconvenience that may arise in the connection with the use of such rewards, or as a result of any defect in or failure of such rewards. Third party vendors and U.S. Bank National Association specifically disclaim any defect in or failure of such rewards. Third party vendors and U.S. Bank National Association specifically disclaim any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
